Here’s a great source of inspiration for anyone with tiny house dreams – I came across a blog documenting the building process of this awesome little house and just had to share it. This is the type of story I love. Macy of MiniMotives decided to “go tiny” in 2011 and has since built this 196 square foot home on wheels, where she now lives with her daughter, partner, and Great Dane (a Great Dane in a tiny house?? That’s got to be interesting! 🙂 ).
The home is built on a 24′ x 8′ flatbed trailer, not for the sole purpose of being mobile, but for getting around the building permits and codes that work against most tiny DIY homes. Macy designed the house herself and built it with the help of her dad and boyfriend, using mostly reclaimed and recycled materials. Pretty awesome!
The kitchen has a refrigerator, stove, and dishwasher, along with a clothes washer and dryer. The walls of the home are finished in regular drywall instead of the paneling seen in most homes on wheels. The siding on the outside of the house is made from recycled pallets – with beautiful results!
Be sure to check out Macy’s blog to read all about this house and see more pictures of how it came together. This is an inspiring example for others with tiny house dreams!
