One thing I love about shipping container homes is the many ways they can be put together to create gorgeous living spaces. They really are like giant building blocks – the layout possibilities are endless!
This beautiful Nederland, Colorado home by Christopher Herr Architects exemplifies creative container building with a structure that utilizes two shipping containers placed along the sides of a larger common area, allowing the opportunity to enjoy the vast mountain surroundings on a small footprint.
While this home doesn’t exactly fit the “tiny house” mold, it is a comfortable, sustainable space made for off grid living, complete with green roofs, solar capabilities for electricity, passive cooling, and a pellet stove for heat.
The shipping containers house the bedrooms, bathroom, laundry room, an office, and the kitchen. The large common area in the center brings everything together with an entryway, living room, dining room, and a loft with a raised deck outside.
